For many families in NC, food insecurity is a constant struggle. According to NC Child, 22% of all children in Pitt County do not have enough food within their homes, and these statistics were provided before the pandemic afflicted our country.

As COVID-19 has placed many of our families without jobs or substantial time off work due to being sick or caring for family members, funding for Thanksgiving meals was simply another barrier to overcome. Yet, due to the extreme generosity of organizations, faithful leaders, and teens serving their community, 25 of our GLAM girls were able to receive Thanksgiving meals for their families!

Daughters of Worth is extremely thankful for Rebecca Caveness of the Winterville Chamber of Commerce, Rebecca Blount, Daughters of Worth Facilitator for CM Eppes Middle, Third Street Catering, and Melissa Blandford, Youth Volunteer Coordinator for Daughters of Worth for all making this effort possible. Through donations of Thanksgiving meals and personally delivering to our families in need, GLAM Girls and their families were able to truly enjoy this special holiday! It literally takes a tribe to Rise Up for the girls of our communities, and we are so incredibly thankful for each one who invests in her.

Friends, we need your help!

We currently have 180 girls enrolled in Daughters of Worth, and 90 of these girls currently do not have a sponsor.

Why is this needed?

Daughters of Worth does not receive any state or federal funding, and so we rely solely upon the gracious giving of sponsors (such as yourself) who are willing to RISE Up to empower her to create the life of her dreams!

Because we understand that financial hardships can often create barriers for girls to have an opportunity to join organizations and participate in special events, Daughters of Worth provides all of our programs and services completely free of charge.

However, the work that we do requires funding. From providing virtual empowerment workshops, meeting emergency needs (of shelter, food, clothing, school supplies, and hygiene), transportation costs to serve girls who are in need, offering mentorship and advocacy, and simply basic administrative services all have a fee.

This year alone, Daughters of Worth has provided the following:

* More than 500 girls have received mentorship

* More than 100 girls have received food assistance

* 11 girls have received assistance with shelter and utilities

* 50 girls have received school supplies

* 500 girls have received hygiene items

* 7 girls have received assistance with diapers, wipes, clothes, and supplies for their baby

For only $20/month or $240/year, you can directly sponsor a GLAM Girl in our program.

What does she receive when you sponsor her?

  • Weekly Empowerment Sessions

  • Direct access to a facilitator/mentor who is specifically assigned to her

  • Connect group meetings with her group and facilitator at least twice per month

  • The opportunity to request personalized coaching/mentorship sessions

  • ALL Eastern NC connect groups twice per month

  • Monthly Note of Hope - card of encouragement mailed directly to her

  • Opportunity to earn prizes, awards, and recognition for academic achievement and engagement in sessions

  • Referrals to other organizations for services needed

  • Assistance with emergency basic needs (shelter, food, clothing, school supplies, personal hygiene items)

  • Scholarship opportunities for high school students

  • Service learning opportunities

  • Leadership development

  • Access to workforce development opportunities through partnering organizations

  • Lifelong belonging to Daughters of Worth

  • GLAM Girl tee shirt

It is our goal to have every single girl sponsored within the next 40 days (by December 31st). We wholeheartedly believe that this can be done, but we need your help to make it possible!

Through Daughters of Worth, girls of our communities are finding a safe haven of support, a place to connect, confidentiality, trusted mentors, new friendships, tools for handling stress and anxiety, awards and prizes for academic achievement, confidence in knowing that they are worthy and loved, assistance with basic needs, and so much more!

As we seek to empower the girls of our communities to truly cultivate the tomorrow of her dreams, we invite you to Join us in the Journey!

Will you be a part of this work? Will you Rise Up to Invest in Her? Will you Join Her Tribe and Sponsor one of our 85 girls who needs a Sponsor Today?

Throughout the year, the Ricci Law Firm continuously finds ways to serve and give back to the community. Often times, this takes place through partnering with non-profit organizations. Understanding that the pandemic has greatly impacted many of our girls and their families, the Ricci Law Firm wanted to find a way to ease the burden for a family in need.

A generous donation has been given to assist a few girls through Daughters of Worth, and we are so thankful to be able to help a family bring some Christmas cheer!

Thank you, Ricci Law Firm for stepping up to meet the needs of our community and for investing in our precious girls! We are so thankful for your partnership and support to make the holidays a little brighter for those in need!
